A table of contents with no jQuery and no front-end JavaScript. One tiny stylesheet, loaded only on pages that show a table.

== Description ==

Brisk Contents builds a table of contents from the headings of a post or page.

* No jQuery and no JavaScript on the front end. Show and hide uses the browser's own details element.
* One 1 KB stylesheet, loaded only on pages that show a table. Pages without a table load nothing.
* Works with the block editor (block "Table of Contents (Brisk)"), the classic editor (shortcode `[brisk_contents]`) and automatic insert.
* Keeps Hindi, Gujarati and other non-Latin headings readable in links.
* Nested lists, numbering, minimum heading count, heading levels, skip headings by name, custom colors, width, collapsed by default.
* A per-post switch to hide the table.
* Respects "reduce motion": smooth scrolling only when the visitor's browser allows it.

= Switching from Easy Table of Contents =

If Easy Table of Contents settings are found, Settings > Brisk Contents shows a preview of what will be imported, an Import button and an Undo button.

* Your Easy Table of Contents data is only read, never changed or deleted.
* Settings that this plugin does not support are listed as "Not imported".
* An "Easy Table of Contents style" anchor mode keeps old heading links (for example links other sites made to `#Getting_Started`) working.
* Optional support for the `[toc]` and `[ez-toc]` shortcodes (only when the other plugin is not active) and for its per-post "hide" and "heading levels" settings.

Deactivate Easy Table of Contents after you import, so a page does not show two tables.

This plugin is an independent project. It is not made by, endorsed by or connected with the makers of Easy Table of Contents. Product names are used only to describe what can be imported.

= Privacy =

This plugin does not collect data, set cookies or contact any external service.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin and activate it.
2. Go to Settings > Brisk Contents and choose where the table should appear.
3. To place it by hand, add the block "Table of Contents (Brisk)" or the shortcode `[brisk_contents]`.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does it use JavaScript on the front end? =
No. The show/hide toggle is the browser's own details element. A small script loads in the block editor only.

= Does it work with Hindi, Gujarati and other scripts? =
Yes. Links keep the original text, for example `#परिचय`. If you prefer old Latin-style links, choose the Easy Table of Contents style in the settings.

= How do I import from Easy Table of Contents? =
Open Settings > Brisk Contents. If Easy Table of Contents settings are found, a preview appears with an Import button and an Undo button.

= Can I hide the table on one post? =
Yes. Use the "Table of Contents" box in the editor sidebar.

= What does uninstall remove? =
Only this plugin's own settings and per-post switches. Data from other plugins is never touched.
